I’m so pleased to be part of the blog tour for Renegades by Marissa Meyer! We had the option of joining as a Renegade or an Anarchist so naturally, I had to join as an Anarchist because who doesn’t love a good villain? Renegades is Marissa Meyer’s first novel that isn’t a fairytale retelling (I’ve previously LOVED her Lunar Chronicles series as well as Heartless), and it completely surpassed my expectations. I felt so sympathetic to Nova, an Anarchist who believed in the Renegades until their lack of intervention caused her to lose her family at a very young age, BUT I also adored Adrian, a Renegade with the best intentions and the desire for justice. When the pair meet, a lot of grey area between good and evil surfaces and Nova has to decide where her allegiance lies. Here’s a full synopsis of the book:
Secret Identities. Extraordinary Powers. She wants vengeance. He wants justice.
The Renegades are a syndicate of prodigies—humans with extraordinary abilities—who emerged from the ruins of a crumbled society and established peace and order where chaos reigned. As champions of justice, they remain a symbol of hope and courage to everyone…except the villains they once overthrew.
Nova has a reason to hate the Renegades, and she is on a mission for vengeance. As she gets closer to her target, she meets Adrian, a Renegade boy who believes in justice—and in Nova. But Nova’s allegiance is to a villain who has the power to end them both.
